Not an adapted PLC. A controller designed for the fan section.
ECpro is designed for HVAC&R applications where EC fans are a core part of the unit. The typical heat-exchanger control logic is built in as configurable parameters: the OEM does not start from an empty controller, but from a platform already tailored to the application.
Built-in, configurable logic: Low Capacity, Floating SP, Digital Scroll, 3-level Fail Safe, Auto Clean.
6 protocols: ebm-papst, Ziehl-Abegg, Hidria, Nicotra, Dunli, Rosenberg; others assessable on request.
Independent COMs separate traffic: BMS, EC motors, display, expansions.
One controller, any supported EC fan.
ECpro uses built-in Modbus protocols to communicate with fans from leading EC manufacturers. Switching motor brands requires neither rewriting drivers nor revalidation of the entire unit.

From analogue control to advanced fan-section management.
Configure ECpro to match the unit’s control requirements. The platform stays the same as the integration level changes, allowing the OEM to change approach later without replacing the controller.
Functions born in the field, already integrated in the platform.
Low Capacity
At low load, ECpro enables only the fans required, reducing oscillations and part-load consumption.
Floating SP
Dynamic setpoint based on outdoor temperature, to adapt control to seasonal conditions.
Digital Scroll
Dedicated logic for Emerson Copeland Digital Scroll compressors, integrated to stabilise refrigerant pressure.
Multiple fan banks
Up to 4 independent circuits with digital control, 3 with analogue control.
Multiple coils
Coordinates multiple coils on the same fan system, balancing setpoints without external logic.
Fail Safe
Configurable emergency strategies for loss of BMS or fan communication, with separate timeouts and behaviour defined according to the architecture.
Safe Guard
Checks the rated range of transducers and probes and signals values above or below that range.
Thermal Stop
Immediate stop via priority digital input, for safety enable signals and machine interlocks.
Impeller release
Reverse rotation to free the impeller in the presence of ice or snow, where supported by the EC protocol.
Winter Mode
Configurable temperature threshold and fan speed for managing winter conditions.
Night Mode
Automatic maximum speed limit during night-time periods, for applications with noise constraints.
Cable Break
With a 1-10 V command, distinguishes a broken cable from a zero command and activates emergency speed.
Bridge Polling
Two upstream lines: a command line to the BMS and a separate monitoring line, for redundancy.
Auto Clean
Coil cleaning cycles activated by schedule or by the BMS, also with reverse ventilation where provided.
5 access levels
5 access levels, from viewing only to full configuration.
Configuration, cloning and local access.
ECpro provides 16 preset configurations, which can be customised through parameters according to the application.
- Optional TFT display with touchscreen and buttons, on-board or remotely panel-mounted.
- KMEM: save the full configuration and copy it to other units via USB-C, without a laptop.
- KLNK: USB-C Wi-Fi dongle for the Selpro browser app. No installation required.
- Phone access: parameters, live data, alarms, event history, fan tests and guided motor addressing.

ECpro is a complete main controller. Selpro ecosystem modules are optional, extending the platform for applications requiring point-to-point topologies, additional I/O or advanced adiabatic functions.
- MFan: point-to-point digital EC motor management, without Modbus complexity.
- MDGT: advanced adiabatic system management, with dedicated resources for valves, pumps, spray, enable signals and wet/dry sequences.
- Custom modules: we can jointly assess developing a dedicated expansion for specific requirements.
ECpro works well on its own. With MFan, it becomes a system.
MFan enables point-to-point EC motor management, giving each fan its own independent connection and eliminating typical daisy-chain issues. In installations with many fans, data and diagnostics for each node help pinpoint anomalies.
Configurable I/O to build the machine logic.
Assign each analogue input, digital input and output to a specific function within the application.
- 6 configurable analogue inputs: 0–5 V, 0–10 V, 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, NTC 10K, PTC, PT1000.
- 6 On/Off digital inputs.
- 3 independent 0–10 V analogue outputs.
- 4 NO/NC relay outputs with configurable delay.
- 5 RS485 Modbus RTU COM ports.
- DIN rail mounting, 24 Vac/dc supply, 213 × 90 × 32.2 mm.

Questions about ECpro
No. ECpro includes the control logic. Choose a start-up configuration and set its parameters. There is no application firmware to write.
ECpro applies the configured fail-safe response. BMS loss and fan loss have separate timeouts.
ebm-papst, Ziehl-Abegg, Nicotra, Hidria, Dunli and Rosenberg. ECpro can use MFan to control and diagnose each fan individually. Fans from different brands connect to separate MFan modules.
ECpro includes I/O, control logic and a BMS port. It does not require MHub. It can use MFan for per-fan Modbus control, data and diagnostics. The choice depends on the unit’s architecture.
Inputs accept 0–5 V, 0–10 V, 0–20 mA, 4–20 mA, NTC, PTC and PT1000. Each analogue output follows its own control loop. Relays signal assigned events, with separate On/Off delays.
From evaporative tower to dry cooling: a Selpro panel with ECpro + mFan for 18 EC fans
For Beijer Ref Italy, Selpro supplied a Series Q panel with ECpro + mFan to manage 18 EC fans on Modine air-cooled condensers at CABRE. The solution combines Modbus digital control, fan-by-fan diagnostics and future scalability from one to three independent circuits.
