Ventilation System Solutions

In industrial and civil spaces, fans are at the heart of air treatment systemsand control systems are essential for them to function properly while improving comfort.

The proper control of fan speed and flow rate aims to reduce noise, consumption and mechanical wear and tear of the materials and power supply of the devices; it also means that heavy, cumbersome components can be removed and customers can count on equipment managed in compliance with European directives.

The world of fan control systems still employs traditional electro-mechanical equipment such as on/off controls or star-delta starting systems, but they are limited from the standpoint of reliability, efficiency and duration.

These technologies operate on an unstable basis, withfluctuations of the parameters, current spikes and high levels ofwear and tear in the components.

On the other hand, electronic control has revolutionized the industry due to its ability to control the operation of the fans on a gradual, accurate basis, dynamically responding to the load conditions.

Selpro designs and manufactures standardized electronic solutions which can also be customized; they are compatible with a number of different types of fans (axial, radial and centrifugal, with asynchronous (AC) and synchronous electronic switching motors) and can be easily integrated with the operating systems.

The accurate control of fan speed allows noise to be considerably reduced, with decibel levels proportional to the fan speed. Specific functions like the night-RPM mode, also allow electricity consumption to be reduced, thus meeting requirements of environments where it is essential to maintain extremely low noise levels.

From the energy standpoint, the use of advanced algorithms like PID control, also available in Auto-Tuning mode, means that heat exchanger functions can be optimized to make significant savings, with a reduction of consumption by the system. These energy savings can also be increased if the free cooling function is employed as it uses air from the outside to cool the system without having to turn on the cooling unit.

Electronic management eliminates the power surges that occur on on/off systems, shielding components from electric and thermal shocks and ensuring that the mechanical components of the equipment last longer. The elimination of water hammering and sudden pressure changes also helps stabilize the functioning of the whole system, protecting the mechanical parts and optimizing performance.
